in- tank fuel pump fix
#1
For those needing a new fuel pump I just installed one on my 2002 silverado. I went to local auto parts stores to buy one but they only sold stock pumps in a whole unit which cost $345.00. So I ordered a 255 lph pump for LS1 F- bodies. It takes a little modification but it works. All you have to do is splice the connector for the new pump into your stock wire harness, I used butt connectors and put shrink tubing over the connection. I also took a dremel tool and grinded some of the plastic off of where the stock pump set in order to get the new pump to sit low enough to use the new in-tank filter that came with the pump. Hope this helps anyone.

Sorry no pics, but if you remove your whole unit and remove your stock pump look down in the bottom where the bottom of the pump sat. It is a peice of plastic about 3/4 of inch tall just grind it down with a dremel.

I ordered the pump from Summit Racing. The part number is GRN-GM722-2 it is a Granetelli pump kit. The kit includes a 255lph Walbro pump, in tank filter, hose clamps and a short section of hose. The hose that comes with the kit is to short for truck tanks so I went to the auto parts store and bought a section of 5/16 fuel injection hose and cut it to fit. This is the hose that runs from the top of the pump to the top of the unit. Then just use the supplied hose clamps.
