Default T/B Bypass

Why does the coolant go through the t/b in the first place and does it effect the gas mpg's when I go through with the t/b bypass

The theory is that the coolant would keep the T/B cool and causing the intake air to be cooler. The reality is it heats up your mixture when you engine gets up to operating temp of 170* to 185* +. The bypass just closes the loop. Don't beleive any claims of 10 rwhp gains or buy a kit for $15. You will get no gain, ok maby 1/2 to 1 rwhp. Simply put, it is a mod that can be done for under $5 so why not do it. No effect on my mileage.

I thought they ran coolant through the TB for the guys up north to keep the throttle blade from freezing in cold weather. I agree though, don't buy the kit, do it yourself. I paid under 6 dollars for all the parts at an auto parts place. Like Greg said, not big performance gains, but every little bit helps right? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
