Default Switching to V-bands, got some questions....

I am wanting to switch to V-bands and ditching my 3-bolt flanges... I have looked around and prices seem to be for $33 to $70 for 3in kits... Some are Mild steel and some are stainless. I would think mild steel would be fine.. Anyone got some input? I am going to need 3 sets... Thanks in advance...

Oh and would I have problems welding stainless flanges to mild steel pipe with a Mig (w/ CO2/Argon mix)....

The correct way to weld stainless to mild steel is with 309L filler. Muffler shops do it all the time with 70 series wire, I'm sure it outlasts the warranty period. In my opinion, I wouldn't waste money on stainless flanges with mild tube, but I would use stainless clamps and nuts.
