Switched to Magnaflow
#1
I switched mufflers from a Flowmaster 40 series delta flow to a 14" Magnaflow. The main reason for going to magnaflow, was the ends on the flow were rusting through, and everyone on here raves over the magnaflows, and how Flowmasters are restrictive.
The sound is not a whole lot different, at idle and wot it sounds different than the 40, but in between it sounds almost the same, but a little quieter. There is still a drone at 1500rpm, but on the whole it is alot quieter at cruising speed. At Wot it sounds better than the 40, the 40 sounded a little choked.
I am not sure yet but I think I picked up a few horses, I should have going from a chambered to straight through muffler. The exhaust system I think is still too small for a 6.0L at 350-360 rwhp, it is still all stock between the headers and muffler (flat bottomed 2.5" y-pipe to single 2.75") then the tailpipes are only dual 2.25" with crimped bents.
Here are some wav files
Flowmaster 40 5.3L 212/218 cam
Flowmaster 40 6.0L 212/218 cam
Magnaflow 6.0L
I would highly recommend Magnaflow, with the straight through design, nice sound and the polished SS construction + the price is good, but I am glad I got the 14" over the 18", the 18" would be to quiet for my liking.

Yeah I am running cats, here in Ontario we have to go for an emissions test every other year.
I don't have track times, but I was averaging 14.9-15.1 on g-tech at around 91-94 mph 2.365 60'. Best time was a 14.77 at 95.89mph, this is with 212/218 .522/.529 cam, UPD intake, thorley headers, ASP underdrive pulley, tuning with HPtuners and a flowmaster muffler.
I would not recommend getting a cam if you have a stock torque convertor, mine was a dog down low. I was gaining at high rpm but I was losing at low rpm = not that much quicker overall.
