Default Switch from Mobil1 to Amsoil = Less Oil Consumption?

Could it be? I had been running Mobil1 since I first changed the oil on the truck around 700 miles (switching between 5w-30 and 10w-30). After I installed my catch can, I would check and drain it when I changed my oil, and around 500 miles or so thereafter. I would always get a good tablespoon or so every time. So for my last oil change, I switched from Mobil1 10w-30 with my last AC Delco PF-59 filter to Amsoil 5w-30 with a Mobil1 synthetic element filter. I checked the catch can at around 500 miles like usual and only a few drops came out. I then pulled the hose from the catch can to the intake to make sure that it wasn't bypassing and sucking through, and it was dry. Could it have something to do with the molecular structure of the Amsoil? Or possibly the different design of the filter? Either way, I'm happy so far...oil pressure appears to be the same according to the factory gauge FWIW also.

my truck at 18K miles consumed so much oil the check oil level light came on one day, no leaks or anything. Changed the oil after that light came on to mobil 5000 and no issues yet! Could be though budhayes
