Default Suggestions for more HP

So I have been lurking for some time on this site, however have never posted, and have found that most guys are very knowledgable about getting pretty good performance out of these trucks.

I am potentially looking into getting a CAM for my truck. It is a daily driver and I am looking to keep it reliable but add some decent power.

The truck is a 2013 Silverado with the 5.3. It is 4X4 and lowered 2/3. I have KOOKS long tubes with catted y-pipe and a magna flow catback that exits in front of the rear tire. Also a K&N CAI and its tuned by DiabLew.

I am looking for the information for the best options to make the best reliable horsepower. Also what a recommended stall converter would be. Also want to delete the AFM and all that garbage (turned off with the tune anyway). What parts will be needed for everything.

Would it be a better bet to ditch the Diablo and run HPTuners or EFI Live?

So any information, tips/tricks, personal experience, cost or so forth are greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Brian

For cam recommendations we need to know a little more about your goals.

Regarding the tune, yes with a cam swap, you'll need to ditch the Diablo and get a real tune.

Looking to make it as nasty a daily as I can, most reliable horsepower I can get. Want a moderately aggressive cam that has a nice lope to it. But like I said still want to be able to daily drive it. I was looking around and saw mentions of a 228 for a cam. Don't know if that will work best for what I want though.

What would be the best option for a tune in your opinion.

Also is data logging an option for tuning it after a cam or will I be able to tune it myself. Don't have any tuning experience but definitely interested in learning how to if its feasible.

More importantly, what is your budget?

Thats a good Question? I am just trying to get an idea of what parts I need and what cost would be right now. Don't want to spend a fortune but also want to do it the right way the first time. I know that doesn't really answer the question, mostly looking to see how realistic my expectation will be and if my bank account can keep up with me.

Your tune is just fine. Just as good as any. No reason to switch.

Stall speed and cams need to be selected together. They need to match.
Mild 3k stall a 218/226 .598/.605 LSA113+2
Agressive NA or Nitrous loose 3600 226/230 .605/.609 LSA112
Boost cams would be a lot different and those are just some decent suggestions.
The 228r to me isn't ideal in a full size truck. It's a good cam in a s10 or Fbody or very light rcsb.

Email texas speed with your desires and see what they say. They're pretty good at spec'ing cam and converter combos
