Default Stupid Predator questions...

Could you buy this unit to just be used as a diagnostic tool?

What I mean is, alot of my family &amp; friends have '99-02 Chevy trucks and whenever someone gets a SES light they call me to see if I can tell them what is wrong. I was thinking I could get the predator for myself and use it to change settings or whatever in <font color="red">MY truck only <!--color--></font>, and then if a friend is having a problem with their truck I could just program mine back to stock, hook it up to their's and see what is wrong, then just unhook it from their's and put it back on mine.

Would this work?
Is the predator "year specific"?

Yes,you can use it as a diagnostic tool for other vehicles. When you plug it in,it will ask you if you want to tune or diagnose.Just be sure to allways click on diagnose for using on other vehicles,
once you do that you can read and clear codes and view real time data as well.I think depending on the year of the vehicle will limit you as to what you can do.I used mine the other day to check a service engine light on my Dads truck,it would read the code and tell me what it meant, but I could not clear the code or view live data. His truck is a 97 model though.

I have used mine on a Z34 Monty and a LTZ Lumina. It read there codes and deleted them just fine. I don't know about the live data though? You don't have to worry about putting yours back to stock for reading and deleting codes.
