shaving heads is alot cheaper than those cometics. BUT you will need to check your pushrod length, just to be sure

I presume these are going on the stock LS1 bottom end?? If so the .040 Cometics will give you a bitter quench area for some detonation protection. The Cometics are also resuable so if you had to pull a head for something, you wouldn't be out the price for another stock gasket. I spent the extra money for the Cometics when I did my LS1 hand ended up pulling the heads twice so they ended up paying for themselves.

shops normally charge anywhere from $50-$100 to mill a set of heads...
-I'd go with the cometics Stew... that way, if you want different heads in the future, you can sell an unmolested set and probably move them easier.

If you get them milled .030 you might run into the same problem with the pushrod length, so I guess I would go with whatever is the cheaper route. I was going to get mine milled .030 then found out my comp 7.4's would be too long so I had to limit it to .015 max. I only paid $60 for the mill work.

Anyone know if Vince at FLT beefed up his level 5 4L65E kit? Last I heard, he found a few parts that still could use some strengthening to kick up the HP/ TQ ratings of his level 5 tranny.
Just wondering.
When you heading out to the track Stew? Later at the end of Oct or mid Nov?
Let me know, I might want to head out with you possibly.
Jim
