Easy:
Turn the steering wheel so the bolt is not side to side. Facing top to bottom. Reverse the bolt and put it in through the other side. That should do the trick.

Wouldn't that just cause it to hit again once he made a full turn of the steering wheel?

You guys are silly... Flipping the bolt wont do any good unless he never turns.. LOL
I would cut the bolt close as possible to the the nut and install it with some loktite.. and see where that puts you.. or if you need just a hair more.. grind the head of the bolt off a little, and then grind the nut down some?? but dont get to crazy.
Let us know..

If cutting the bolt doesn't help, shifting the gear box might. I had the same problem when I originally installed my Gibson shorties (funny how my shorties hit, but my SW longtubes clear with no problem). Anyway, I unbolted the steering gear box and shifted it a little bit. When I was done, you could actually see that the steering shaft turned truer (tighter circle when turning). After that, I had a ton of clearance, just had to align it, as moving the gear box will effect the toe adjustment.
