That sucks man! Hopefully it's something simple.... I would like to think it has something to do with being built for boost.. But seeing how it just started doing it after 2,000 miles, and not the whole time.. Doesn't seem right! Get with the guys at Thompson, I'm sure they'll get you squared away...

I think you should Just put the turbo on asap and give it hell!

They may not warranty anything if you don't use the "recommended" oil just saying

The smoke can be many different things from valve seals to build up in the evac system is you are still using the intake to produce the crank case vacuum. It can even be moisture if the tempature has dropped over night. If it smoked and went away with nothing returning I am sure you are OK. If it continues please call us and we can discuss the different ways to look over your motor and find were the problem is coming from.

We also recommend the 20-50w oil for racing use. It works excellent. That being said if you are in an area that is much cooler it is OK to use something like the 10-30. We do not recommend using anything lighter than that. We also no not void any warranties for using other than recommended oil, It is a recommended oil not required. This simply means that with the thousands of motors we have produced and tested we have had the most success with that particular oil. We are generally testing under duress not to and from the grocery store. This means that there is nothing set in stone and there are times that it is reasonable to step out of the recommended oil for something else.

All oil discussion aside the weight of the oil being thick will not cause smoke. Using a very thin can cause oil burn but generally not smoke. Please keep us updated and let us know if there is anything we can do to help you with this in any way. Thank you for your purchase and have a great day.

Thank you,
Kyle

Rings or piston problems smoke all of the time. They can not smoke and go away, Any mechanical problem is always a problem not just sometimes. It has to be oil settling or moisture settling causing it. Just let us know if we can help with anything else.
