Default start up problem

for some reason it seems the engine isn't getting any gas until the second or third start attempt. but this only happens when it has been driven within the past couple of hours. let's say, i go grab a double meat at whataburger and go back home to eat. if i:

A.) see that my fries are not in the bag and need to go right back to whataburger, my truck starts just fine.

B.) have finished my burger and spend about 45 minutes here on LS1tech and then get a craving for a whataburger shake. it would take me probably 3 attempts to turn the engine over.

C.) eat the double meat and 5 hours later i am laying on the couch feeling like crap because the burger made me sick, and feel the need to talk to the 18 year old whataburger manager...my truck would start up on the first try.

could this have something to do with the fuel pump?

Pull the vac. line off the reg., if fuel comes out it's the reg. Make sure you start first then turn off to check. If that's not it replace the pump.

Sounds like your fuel pressure regulator is leaking...mine did the same thing. It actually floods after a hot soak. Remove the vacuum hose to the fp reg and check for the presence of fuel...it should be dry. If fuel is in there, or you get a strong whiff of gas, the fp reg is leaking. (fuel press reg is located in the center of the driver's side fuel rail).

I got my reg from the dealer, it came as a kit with the o-ring and all...I think it was like $60-$70
