update: little more drone over time. still not ridiculous but i think it was from e85. i have some 91 back in it and drove 45 mins to work and didn’t notice it as bad. didn’t have much time to check over clamps but I will next weekend.
L86 manifold and throttle body are on the way also

I was considering ported but don’t want to spend $500 on it. the throttle response and mid-upper RPM range i’m looking forward to see improvements along with this exhaust increasing midrange. mine is getting procharger or 2.9 next year so didn’t see the need for porting an intake that’ll have air shoved in it for 450-500 rwhp or taken off completely for a Whipple

But even with boost you'll see gains if it's ported. The gains you see N/A transfer over to equal or larger gains on boost.
I'm personally done with modding the baby dick 5.3 though and am gearing up to do a 6.2. The 6.2 makes such a huge difference and they have gotten really cheap so to me there's no point messing around with the 5.3. Plus an added bonus is the 6.2 comes with a 6.2 intake already lol. I say that because I was considering getting a 6.2 intake and throttle body for the 5.3 but screw it, I'm gonna go to an entire 6.2.

@00pooterSS I only welded the center section of the y-pipe and welded the flange that bolts to the cat back on to the y-pipe. It's still got clamps at the headers and a disconnect at the factory location on the cat back. Those were the only two spots that ever leaked on mine even with foil. Welded them yesterday and clearanced the bracket on the frame where the trans crossmember connects and finally it sounds like a decent truck and not like my 35 year old blazer haha.

I may someday, but at this point it would be a major pain to pull the exhaust back to get the collectors to slide back far enough to get the RTV in there.. and my foil is doing damn good to be honest. I really don't have any leaks to speak of. I just have header sound. Overall mine is super quiet in the truck and I can't complain. It'll probably be a next time I have it apart thing (doing the RTV)

Yeah it's the best thing I could come up with that was easy to put on, would work well, and come back off.. mostly lol. I tried all kinds of stuff and that one came to me out of nowhere one day.
Last time I had my clamps off I noticed some of the foil had hardened and was getting stuck to the pipe, as you saw.
That was interesting, I didn't expect that to happen lol.
