Default spec me a cam and stall range

i have a 2003 sierra 5.3 2wd. i do not tow at all. it is my daily driver. i want it faster and more fun to drive around. i have intake and exhaust now. i was going to just get long tubes and an ory and tune it, but then i started looking into cams and a stall. i just can't grasp it all at this point. the more i read the more it gets confusing. i priced out a cam kit and it turned out to be a thumpr kit. i want to be able to drive it and people were talking about brakes locking up. i was going to get a 3000 stall but maybe i need something higher or maybe just get a different cam kit now instead. i just want the car to be funner to drive. and i want it as fast as possible for the mods i'm throwing in. what cam and stall do you recommend to go with the typical i/h/e mods i have? i don't anticipate to be doing more engine mods after this. probably brakes and suspension unless all this cam stuff snowballs into madness

Just my humble opinion, being a daily driver - get something that is easy on valvesprings. (Milder lobes and nothing really high lift)

What gears are in the truck now? Are you willing/considering a change to compliment the cam and stall?

If wanting to stay with stock gears, most likely 3.23 or 3.42 ratio - get something tried and true like a 212/218, SDPC HT1, Trick Flow 216/220, etc. And add a 3000 stall.

If you are willing to do 4.10+ gears, go bigger on both. A 224/228 or larger cam and 3500+ stall.

a low lift 220/220 112+4 with a 3200 converter has been proven to be very stout combo while not being overly wild/aggressive.

Something like mentioned above. You don't need anything wild, and if you do go wild it will take away from its manners and make it somewhat unenjoyable to DD.

I'd probably go 216/220 112+2 or there abouts.

thanks for the advice. the cam was a 219/233 thumpr. and the research i dug up was that the cam was more for sound than anything.

i'm going to go with something you recommended. now as for a stall do you get the multi disk circle d or is the high performance one ok?
