Default Spark Plugs

I have seen that everyone that is running with mods put the NGK TR55's in. What is so much better about this plug over other brands? Also I was wondering if you guys are taking the heat shield off or are you leaving it on. I want to change my plugs but I need to know why the TR 55's are better. I have the 5.3 SCSB, Z71,mods include K&N Filter Charger Kit, HPP3, Throttle Body Spacer, EGR Mod, Gibson shorties, customs exhaust, and posi 3.73. Thanks for the help.

They are just a good inexpensive plug. I leave my heat shields on.

I have always had better luck with NGK's. Most are running the TR55ix's which are iridium plugs. They'll last longer and fire better supposedly than the reg NGK's.
