Default Soo look what I bought... :D

LQ4 with 21,000 kms out of an 06' 2500. Borescoped it, looks like brand new, confirmed dished pistons.. Heres the crazy part- I look up the block date code, and it was casted on my 20th birthday exactly.. Dec. 16.05, now thats coincidence!! Just got it home and pulled the pan off for further inspection. Will be camming it and running 8-10lbs boost through it with my vortech.

Awesome! I agree, it looks to be in excellent condition. Make sure to post more pics and keep us updated on the progress.

Got it through a wrecking yard, i'm sure i paid too much, but i wanted the low kms and at least an 05 for the internals so a 13k mile 06' is pretty good. The guy at the salvage said he just sold an 05' the week before under 10k miles.

So now i'm goin through the cam questions, but am somewhat lost... i know i want to stay under 240 durations with a slightly longer exhaust and below 570 lifts, but thats about it...

XR275HR
222 224 .566 .568 112

What do you guys think? I want it to be still fairly streetable with some power down mid, but also all out. This cam would be conservative NA but with the vortech it would be pretty hot?!?!

most likely 918's those are supposed to be good for up to .600 lift.

Well i just dropped another 1400 bucks.. the wallets on fire... haha Got on the phone with compcams for a cam recommendation, seems i should work for them, they pointed me to a couple cams one of which was the one i previously posted. So i followed my feeling and their advice and opted for the XR275HR

Made an order through summit racing:

Comp XR275HR Camshaft
Comp 918 Springs
Comp steel retainers and locks
SLP 7.4 Chromemoly Pushrods
Pacesetter Ceramic coated LT's
AEM Wideband UEGO air/fuel Monitor w/ Bosch o2 sensor

Well that should could keep me busy for a bit.

sweet find man... i thought mine looked good when i got it.. you def got a good one... mine had 70K miles on it and looked new inside once i cleaned up the carbon..... these motors are awesome....

im hoping to turbo mine soon....

918s??? ive heard to many horror stories of people ruining their engines with them springs....

get what you pay for....

and yes i know there are people who have had them for years with no problems.... im just saying i wouldnt use them....
