both the links posted by jrmchevyman look just like the AEM kit, you just need the dryflow filter to go with it, shitty thing is its an exact copy of an AEM but its illegal cause of the dumbass carb sticker
The only state I have herd of some ridiculous laws is in California. New Jersey has the smog / emissions test too though.

Here in Florida you can run whatever you want pretty much lol and we have no emissions testing.

Grey matter 04 tested a stock air box vs a CAI he lost 2mph in the 1/4 mile. he didnt mod the box or anything so it was unable to see what that result would have been. i love my CAI, and the times are in the sig. mine isnt your average CAI though...it's modified

They did a few dyno tests on various cai's over on SSS.com...IIRC the AEM made the most HP...Search "cai wars" over there to see it...

I have never really cared or put research into smaller "bolt on" mods..I bought a Volant because I like the looks and the ram air tube...but if X brand makes more hp..I could care less....

To me cat backs and cai's are a personal preference on looks/sound...If you want to see what makes more HP, test cylinder heads, camshafts, LT headers, etc.. then it will be worth the worry/hassle/care/time/lol

I work at advance and I ordered one of these for ***** and giggles also. I have to admit for $120 you can't beat it. It fits almost perfect and you can def tell a difference. Idk about power numbers but it helps. You can hear mine suck in when your going down the road. Money well spent imo.

Funny but true... I aswell.went from a k&n to the cheap intake and felt a difference... it might get hot but it sure performs better! Just my opinion!!

Are you guys comparing these intakes with the K&N CAI kit that's specifically designed for the 05-06 silverado's? They have a really nice long bend off of the throttle body because they're made to work with the factory e-fans, and don't have to clear the factory fan shroud that the older trucks have.

i noticed with my K&N series77 intake the maf was bolted to the metal heat sheild causing it to heat soak the maf
I had IAT temps of over 155 deg on a 95 deg day and that was at one redlight cycle they would jump up drive a few miles they came down
This is the reason i sold my $300 K&N and going with the cheap version with a 4 inch tube and diff designed heat shield
AND yes it was the shield causing it i checked all various parts with a temp gun to see what my issue was

I would like to clear some things up that have been said in this thread, the ALUMINIUM WILL NOT GET HOTTER THAN THE PLASTIC AND IT DOES NOT HAVE MORE (HEAT SOAK) than plastic, it has less. They will be the same temperature after a few minutes, the plastic takes longer to take in heat and to release it, which is know as the R-value giving it the ability to hold heat longer. The only difference is plastics hold heat longer and do not transfer heat as fast as aluminium.
