just curious, we need to start making a list of parts/weight like the fbod guys have. always good for that little extra umph at the track

i'm going to be doing it as soon as i get a garge, but that wont be until sometime next semester now so i was hoping someone else wanted to be the guniea pig

I was just thinking of putting up a post for weight reduction items but, I haven't gave it much thought on how to organize it. I guess it could be 1500 series parts unless otherwise noted afterwards in paranthesis.

What do you want weighed? I might be up to taking some small stuff off and weighing it but, right now I don't have space to be storing stuff so it would have to go back on.

I never did get the weight of my 2" lower control arms. I'll do that this weekend. I think I might go ahead and take the cruise control off this weekend also.(I don't think I've ever used it )

also, im liking the idea of 1500 series parts, and can accomodate other 99up models as long as its written in paranthesis

Removed the wife and I lost 130#'s. Just kidding honey.

Seriously though, those removable rear seats in my Yukon must weigh 40#'s each! That's an 80# saving right there!

I always wondered about weight saving. Good to see some of will be doing the research! I wonder how much weight you would save by going to a fiberglass/composite hood? Then there is lightweight rims...

This might be off topic but I stripped my BMW M3 down to the point where I had 1 seat and the metal frame instead of the ceter console. I used forged aluminum wheels and had 280fwhp- The car was amazing-

If i stripped the Tahoe down I figure I could lose 1500 pounds easy-

4-wheel transfer case
2-front-driveshafts
Carpeting-
Center console
Seats
Spare tire
all that plastic molding-
Glass- Replaced with plastic
spare tire equipment
speakers-wiring-stereo
gas tank- replaced with smaller lighter version
Racing wheels
Lose the step Rails
Lose all the flares and plastic
Lose the foglights and bottom bumper
Rear Hatch-
Rear bumpber
glovebox
AC
wipers
new smaller and lighter rear view mirrors
Oh Yeah.....

AND 3 HUGE HONDA V-TEC STICKERS This will make the Tahoe super fast trust me. big red ones...

This would equal one super fast(but ugly) Tahoe.
Anybody dare me....

John,

As much as the local honda club would probalby love it, seeing the first imported 2003 Honda Way2big Vtec, I would lose the capibility of driving over their vehicles.

Seriously I am really tempted to try this and see just how light I can get this thing. Maybe next spring when I get the vette and I have an extra road worthy vehicle.

PS I could just caulk the whole truck shut and fill it with helium....
