less than building a 4l60e, your going to need a stall either way so i am not counting that.

i got a motor, tranny and tcase for $2000 off of ebay, it had alot of extras, driveshaft mods were $150, tranny lines were $25 i think, wireing $150, did the cross member myself but figure $100 to have that done. later i did a shift kit for $109 and a cooler $??

that looks like a LOT of work. a LOT more than I expected since its my daily. I was thinking 6.0 + mild bolts ons and a 4L80E but now i'm reconcidering. If it cant be done in 3 days i'm kinda skrewed.

Then again, if I leave out the T-case and do that another weekend...
Id probobly run a stock speed stall. Mine wouldn't be built to rev all that high.

Would it be easier to do on a 2wd?? Im assuming it would. For those who arent as mechanically inclined as yourself, what do you think a fair estimate for having this done at a tranny shop would be assuming you provided the materials??

2wd should be easier. no idea on the cost. if your not confident in your abilities i wouldnt enen think about trying it.

trey, the only reason to go with an 80 would be if your going to spray it alot or boost it alot.

I guess even with a $2,000 install price the 4L80 would be less expensive. Besides, you could probably get $500 plus for the 4L60 afterwards right??
Hopefully I can find a competant shop.

Parish;
I doubt not my ability to do it but rather my ability to do it in a weekend since its my daily and only.

I want a mid 12 sec truck; ext cab 4x4 (manual t-case)

Dont mind spending $2,000 on it. I have about $6000 set aside for this project -including a set of headers and a cutout (dont want exhuast; gets annoying on those 12 hour drives when you are at 2000rpm the whole way; rather just sac 15hp and open it up when i need it)

Then again, if i cant get this BS ticket waived tomorrow; that $6000 isn't even my insurance RAISE for the next 2 years :cuss:

for what it's worth you could swap out a 4l60e in about 5hours and it should handle 12's if built right. mine got into the 11's and i would guess a mid 11 even.

the 80 however will take you as far as you will ever want to go. i ran a 10 and the tranny is stock other than a shift kit. prety impresive if you ask me.
