Default So I put a flowmaster on the 8.1.......

I know I know, I was gonna do a magna flow, originaly i wanted to do a y into 4" with one of those diesel mufflers....but it was gonna cost way to much because no one around here can bend 4" so it was gonna have to be alot of universal stuff cut and fit together. so then i wanted the duel in singel out 5x11x22 magnaflow BUT the out is only a 3 ( stock is 3.5 ) and the dual inlet isnt spaced correctly so it would have required a lil more fab so more money. BUT flowmaster has came out with a HD 8.1 muffler that drops right in perfectly so i went the route, its a bigblock seires II muffler, and i have to say my interior is no louder than it was ( nice n quite ) and i have no resonance (yay) AND i took a road tip this weekend and got 1 more mpg average THAN IVE EVER GOTTEN so while that doesnt sound like alot but when u go from 11.7 to 12.7 thats like what 8.5% more mpg so i guess its working out ok.

Interesting....

I'm also curious what the p/n is for your muffler. I talked to Flowmaster about putting a 70 BB muffler on a 6.0 and was told they were having issues with them. Can't imagine it being any better on an 8.1. They use a 50 series BB muffler on all HD catbacks that I've seen, and its not quiet.
