Default So it is better or not?

To have the converter locked up all the time or not?

Reason im asking is im getting mixed answers.

Like when the truck is stock the verter stays locked up in tow haul mode.

now with the tune it doesnt stay locked up like before.

Better or worse?

as far as i know you dont' want it to lock up too early cause it will bog the engine down. i think that was a problem slowprocess was having with his till he had his tune change when lockup was.

The converter is only supposed to be locked up when you are at part throttle, If it is locked under load you will wear out the clutches in it. It will also jerk and bog when in low speeds if it is locked. In my ole camaro it would lock up at 40 mph under part throttle.

At WOT you do not want the converter locking up because it will bog it a little on the 2-3 upshift. I know when Jesse did the tune for a friend of mine, he set it up where the converter locks up just like factory in reg. mode but in tow/haul *** mode it does not lock up at all at WOT. You can definetly tell a performance difference!

well i had mine locking at 88mph and at wot i would lose 700rpms.

going through the 1/4 mile it would shift into 3rd @84mph and be at 5k rpms, then at 88mph it would lock and drop to 4300.

what i was told is a turbo vehicle likes it to be locked to put more strain on the turbo which makes it work harder but better.

N/A and S/C you want it unlocked to be more of a free spin.

I can let you know after friday, this is the only thing i have done and it was done for test reasons.

Locked 13.47@98.87
unlocked?? coming soon.

I'm only familiar with it as an economy thing. I can see (tach) and hear it do 1,2,3,4 and then a few seconds later drop about another 200 rpm. This is with easy acceleration/part throttle.
