So do you think maybe adding a catch can to the line between my driver's side valve cover and my intake manifold might help my problem?

A catch can will always help oil consumption, as to whether is it oil smoke coming out the exhaust or not, a catch can might stop it.

Well, i seafoamed the truck today (had been planning on doing it since this is the third oil change since the motor build and I just swapped on an intake from a wrecked truck that had been sitting awhile) and I changed the oil. I used royal purple oil and a wix filter like always, but this time i stepped up to 10w-30 instead of 5w-30, and believe it or not, it has pretty muched stopped smoking today...i'll be detailig the truck tomorrow for a car show saturday, so i'm hoping it doesnt smoke when i start her up tomorrow and saturday!

So far, no more smoking...it seems sea foam and 10w-30 oil did the trick
