No matter what the problem is, a new motor is going in. I just thought it would be fun to talk about what could be wrong and when i tear it down we can see whos guess was right. 8-)

My biggest thing is the new set up has to be a daily driver and still be able to play on demand...

My setup is in my sig. The truck drives and sounds copletely stock when driving normal. There are very few vehicles of any type than can hang with me at full throttle. It is a DD. I work out of it everyday. Average anywhere from 800-1000 miles a week.

hhhmmm... That SLP ZL402 LS1 Short Block (Low Comp) with matching heads and cam is looking pretty nice for around $6,500...

Would i need to switch to the LS6 intake or 6.0L intake or keep the 5.3L truck intake?

I wonder how much my 5.3 would go for on Ebay...

I think the 5.3 L engine is the weakest out of all the LSX line up, I still can not believe that yours is dead with only 7.5 psi. I've had my STS for over a year now, but the LQ4 for about 10 months at 10 psi+, and I don't take it easy on it EVER.

I built the bored out 5.3L for around $3200 including some used LS1 heads ( 6.0L #317 would be ideal for the turbo tho ). This was doing everything at home. All depends on whether you have the time and patience or don't want the truck immobile while rebuilding the current motor.
The truck intakes are basically identical, so no gains with a 6.0L vs 5.3L exept for larger injectors and TB if you get a complete assembly. Unless you are building a 1/4 mile vehicle stay with the truck intake IMHO.
Used 5.3L motors are lucky to get $300 plus shipping. The heads are worth up to $200 alone ( they are easiest to CNC ).

Well, after talking to a few machine shops in town i think i may just pull the 5.3 and have it bumped to a forged 383 stroker, have the heads played with, get a new cam and put it back in. I am waiting for official quotes but, the cost is a lot less then going with something like the SLP 402 and mathcing heads/cam...

I am perfectly happy with the idea of a 383 stoker...

When you get your 5.3 bored and stroked, are you going to get forged internals?

i didnt know you could make a 383 out of a 5.3. That's cool to know. i 've had boost for over a year with NO problems at all. I guess it's always in the back of your mind though, what engine combination will be next. BTW, If any body has a good 5.3 for 300$ , let me know! I love 5.3's!! I think they are a great motor and mine impresses me every day. but i'd still love to have a 6.0 !
