problem is that we have a "no look" emissions test on OBDII vehicles, basically they never raise the hood, just look at lights, horn, tires, etc. then plug in to the diagnostic port, if it gives no trouble codes your good, if it doesn't match up then you just threw a flag, as soon as that hood goes up alot of people won't pass (i.e. those with long tubes and no cats)....

In Louisiana they do a OBD2 Scan and the VIN comes up. is they see the vins dont match that will throw up a red flag and could be trouble.

On a side note -- Him being an inspection officer could make things alot easier.

Psst get I may need to talk to ya depended on what happens in December with where I normally get mine done.

Alot of mention about a 2000 vin...don't they have false KR problems also? Wouldn't an 02 vin or tables be what you're looking for?

As for the lack of low end, first thing you gotta do is get the SES turned off. When the check engine lt's on, I believe that the PCM uses certain fixed tables as a failsafe that will allow the vehicle to run but affect performance. The gutted cats might be hurting your low end also...hopefully some tuning will help that.

I dont think the VIN number has anything to do with the KR. I do believe it was the PCM. You can flash the PCM to have any year model VIN

You need the '01 up PCM I think the last 3 didgits are 411. The SES light wont change anything as far as fueling unless its for something besides the rear O2's. the ONLY think the rear O2s do is throw a code if teh PCM sences tehy arent working properly, nothing more. Im not sure if you (OK not YOU but others) would run into a problem at an inspection station or not, I guess you could just explain that after Katrina (everyone esle wants sympathy why not) your PCM had a small amount of water damage, so you replaced it, and werent aware the year mattered.

Chances are they wont notice the years being different anyway, all they do is fill out the sticker, make sure you have all your ****, and the scan comes up good.
