Default Shorty Headers Worth It?

Summit has some shorty headers for $169 and that is alot cheaper than other brands but do you think it will be worth the money? They are painted and not chrome or nickel but that is fine with me. Any opinions?

The paint will come off as soon as you start the truck, most likely. I dont think you would get more than 5hp with something like that. Long tubes are obviously the way to go, but a more expensive($350+)

you live in texas correct? if so you dont have the carb restrictions like we do in cali that and they are cheaper then LT's thats the onlyreason i would see you putting on shortys go for long tubes you wont be disappointed from what everyone says ASM's and Dynatechs are the way to go but they are much more expesive

Short tubes are not worth it. If you're going through the trouble go at least with mid length if not the long tube ones. I have TOG mid length headers and they're great. Look into the ceramic coating option whichever brand you go with too.

I would rather have the stock manifolds. Just use the money for something better.

Could you post a site where i could get some LT's so I can check out the prices. Do you have to do some modifying for those?

Shorty headers are a good addition to your truck if you're not planning on altering the engine too much. If you're in it for the high-performance, then your best bet would be to go with long-tubes. I recently installed ASM long-tubes on my truck and the output is great, although the price was a bit high...There have been some very good reviews on Pacesetter longtubes, you might want to check those out, I hear they're cheaper than ASM...the links to the sites are on the right---> just browse through them and see which one catches your eye....again, it's all up to you, if you're in it for the long-haul and want to go full throttle on your truck, then long-tubes would be best...

I've been in denial about my shorties for years...but in reality any gains that I got from them were in my head (Tried to make myself feel better for wasting money) That is a good price though, my Gibson's were alot more than that 5 years ago when I got them. I'm saving my pennies for a set of LT's now...just have to close on a house first, and I'm kinda waiting to see what QTP is gonna be offering (they're working on truck headers...hopefully this summer!). Wanna compare the QTP's and the StainlessWorks...Grippy should have some new pics of his SW's real soon.
