Default Shortbelt anyone?

I was wondering if anyone has ever shortbelted at the track....

By shortbelt, I mean removing the A/C belt, then running the main belt only to the crank, water pump, and tensioner.

It seems that it would give at least the benefit that an UD pulley gives.... It deletes the drag of the idler pulley, alternator, a/c compressor, and power steering pump.

It seems that there is at least 7-8 horses that won't ever see the wheels in spinning these accessories..... Even if it yeilded 5 HP.... its an easy mod.
New belt: 15 bucks..... Time to change belts: 10 minutes -- tops

Thoughts?

I've pulled the PS belt on my car a few times, just playing around and what not. It didn't make much of a difference. Not noticable, but it did make the turn onto the return road a bit harder.

As for bypassing the alternator, I wouldn't do it, because if your track has lines in staging like there are here, your truck will die. If not there, then it will die on the return road.

Also, about the AC belt, I ran my fastest time with the AC on. Go figure.

i run without the a/c belt but i don't know if it helps or hurts. just something i do. there is a shortbelt that BigKID ran on his truck. he didn't bypass the alt, just the power steering. i don't remember if he seen a gain or not.
