Shimmy When Applying/Releasing Brakes On Cold Start
#1
I have noticed that in the morning when I first start the truck and come to my first stop, the back of the truck seems to "shimmy" or stutter when I stop and when I release the brakes and start to roll again. It disappears after about 1 or 2 minutes, but always occurs on the first start/move of the day.
Anyone else have this occurence?

Are you sure it's not the ABS engaging or the back brakes in general. All my Chevy trucks have had the annoying rear brake lock up for the first engagement or until they warm up.
Could be the same here, this shimmy could go away once the brakes reach operating temp.

Definitely not ABS, but could be pad related. Almost feels like they get hung up for a second.
I am familiar with the lock up, my work van does this regularly and it is quite annoying. Hit the brakes in the morning and the damn thing locks up instantly. This is a little different. Probably no big deal though...

Interesting....thanks for that link.
Wouldn't something like that always kinda do that though? This definitely clears up after a minute or two.
The more I have been trying to figure this out, the more things I have been coming up with. I've noticed that when the truck is cold, the driveshaft/trans act weird on decel....you can really feel the downshift and the driveshaft clunks. It almost seems to coincide with the other problem. I am wondering if maybe what I am feeling is not brake related, but more something of the driveline loading and unloading itself when cold???
