Default Service Manual for 2002 Sierra 1500

I am looking to get a service manual for my truck, so that I can do things like drop the transmission, take apart the dash, work on the engine etc..

Any recommendations on which one to get? Right now I am looking at the Helm Service Manual for my 2002 Sierra 1500.

The Helms ones are excellent and are what GM service techs use. I've got the helms guides for my Formula, it comes in three thick books.

Look in the back of your owners manual. There is info on service manuals.

What about ALLDATA? They have a subscription service $24.95 a year for one vehicle, $14,95 for another vehicle or to renew. Although 2002 isn't available yet. A heck of a lot cheaper than $120 for a book.

ALLDATA

We use ALLDATA at my dealership, as well as service manuals. Alldata is nice, ours includes service procedures, part numbers, and part prices. However, ours includes all makes and models so it might be different from what you are looking at. I would go with the service manuals. They include step by step instructions on DTCs, which is very helpful. I would also buy a Unit Repair Manual if I could.
