doing some logging on the truck tonight and noticed my IAT's seems a little hit. Temp on the rear view showed 94 i believe. At stoplights IAT's would climb to upwards of 140+ degrees By the time i'd have to start slowing down for the next light, IAT's were usually low 120's. I'd have to really get on it to bring them below 110 degrees...

I have a spectre "Cold air" intake with an aluminum tube, heatshield, and cone filter. Looks identical to an AEM kit.

I'm contemplating going back to the stock airbox and smoothing the inside of it and cutting holes in the front and bottom to improve airflow.

Just wondering if anyone has seen real results from making changes or fabricating something up. I'd like something that looks remotely factory/aftermarket if I end up changing things.. Don't want it to look like the home depot special

 

do you have the plate unbolted thats directly under the filter?

You want to make sure that you are getting good airflow, but not from the radiator. I suggest getting some $2 1" stick on foam sealent from Home Depot and covering the edges of the box. Thats what I plan on doing, as the stock "foam" that came with it gets instantly blow away.

If at the track. Pull the headlight.

 

Do an IAT relocate. The factory one in the MAF gets heat soaked and takes forever to "cool" down because its reaction time is so slow. Believe me, I have done everything imagineable to my K&N intake and I still get 120 IATs with the IAT sensor in the factory MAF

I had the same issue with my K&N. I actually made a "ram air" tube from the lower grill to the metal plate. I'll see if I cant find some pics

Meth wouldnt really be cost effictive in a NA setup. I had about 30 in my ram air setup and AIT would stay about 10* over ambient

 

I have a stock box with a hole cut behind the lights. 4" aluminum intake tube wrapped with header wrap. It would heat soak before wrapping. Now I pretty much get ambient temps when rolling and maybe 10* above when idling.
