Default Sd tune

Tried posting this in the tuning forum buy got no replies so figured I'd try it here,

07 suburban with an e38, when SD tuning and you input the data are you supposed to smoothen/intemperlate the whole thing at once or just a little at a time after each data log? I go by both the table and the graph while making adjustments it makes it easier for me since I'm new to it, graph should be smooth not jagged right?

I chip away around the the new numbers that are pasted into the VE table. Then do another data log then wash rinse & repeat.

Chopperdoc's video explains it around the 23.50 mark

So pretty much to get the numbers a little closer together right? I know when I input my data everything gets real jagged on the graph so I smoothen it and all that and comes out better then the one the tuners did like going by how the graph looks its a little smoother, and someone put me onto his videos he gives good Info ill have to go back and watch it again, also I haven't actually applied my SD tune yet I've been doing the tune then flashing my original tune

I'm not a tuner so I take a lot of time doing the smoothing in the VE table. I try not to change the new data I pasted in too much and start chipping around the edges to smooth the new data numbers. After a three or four data data logs I start pasting "multiplying by % -Half" so I don't over/undershoot and start see-sawing back and forth.

Then I check carefully that all the numbers are progressive in the chart...

I'm not ether but so far the truck feels better now then the last two tuners lol and ok so i should be adjusting the old data to blend in with the new data as apposed to adjusting the new data like I was correct?

Yeah the new data is the corrected numbers but you may have to manually change an oddball cell here and there to keep the flow chart progressive.

If you saved your logs that data is still good to work with. I must have over a dozen logs when doing my SD tune. I started with normal cruising logs to nail that part of the table down.

Then I start doing 2nd gear (keeps the MPH down) smooth pulls up to the RPM where power enrichment (PE) kicks in. After that area of the table is nailed down I do the same 2nd gear pulls to 6000+ RPM (rpm is camshaft dependent) WITH A CLOSE EYE ON THE WIDEBAND gauge looking for around 12.5 a/f (naturally aspirated). If you're lean GET OFF THE THROTTLE! You will see the red lean cells populating in the scanner. Take those higher number(s) and populate the area in the SD table from 65 to 105 kPa 4400 RPM to 8000 RPM just to add fuel until you have a safe wideband reading while in PE. If the wideband isn't reading lean in PE carry on logging those cells.

Then you can dial those VE numbers in while in PE with no lean conditions.

This works for me but I'm sure there are other ways to get there...
but watch that wideband under heavy load to be safe!
