Default is this safe or am i making a bomb?

I have a '01 RCLB silverado1500 5.3 ram air,descreened maf,powerdyne TB spacer,no cats, 3.42 w/ stock locker, and a 3" flo dumped in front of my axl. best et is 14.97 on 295/50-16 bfg radial t/a.
i just grenaded my diff so I put a detriot tru-trac in and 4.11's w/ race axls.(they're awesome!)im getting a thunder 224-112lda cam and new headers and 2 1/2" tru dual x-pipe and sweet-thunder chambered muffs. don't know which program i will run but i desterately need on. next mod will be shift kit and yank 2600 converter. if i swap this cam and header pkg, plus zex wet kit will this be ok or a death sentence for my rod?

You'll need bigger injectors,a custom tune and a timing tuner to retard the timing when you spray.

are you just asking about your rods? or your entire truck?

injectors should be fine, fuel pump might be borderline depending on how big of a shot you run. if your asking about your rods they should be fine just dont spin in much over 6000rpm.

there are too many things to be said about your set up, more spacific questions would be nice.

i am not a cam expert but i think that cam might be a bit big for a 2600rpm stall. i had a 232 cam and a 6.0 and it wanted(scratch that, it needed) a 4000rpm stall.

sorry fellas, by rod I ment the truck. Ive decided to run with the predator programmer and the guys at thunder racing say the a 3k converter will be enough to ease the surging and drive daily.Im hoping to make low 13's with my gear and some 27-11.50 ET streets. If there is any chance in hell that I can make 13.0 or 12.9 I'd like to spray a 120 shot to try to hit the low 12 or high 11. sound possible.

You really don't think its safe to spin these motors over 6000rpms. i'm about to put my cam in and i think i'm going to set my shift points to 6500 and my rev limiter to 6900. i was just wondering becuase the f-bod guys are spinning to this safely and they are on stock engines and rod bolts?

i went to 6200 or so on stock rods and 6800 with arp rod bolts. most people recomend rod bolts at least if you want to spin it up high.

i would also go with the 3k stall your injectors should be ok again and fuel pump depending on what size shot you run hell there are guys running 4.8's with that cam and such in there so you should be fine i think and do not get a hand held tuner with that you will never get it to run right or like you want it with that big of a cam

Be careful with the handheld programmers and nitrous. Not saying don't do it, just be careful. When I sprayed mine to 13.4x I left the HppIII tuning on 93 octane setting, but did run 100 octane unleaded to prevent detonation. The predator can be a little more extreme from what I've heard. I'd start out with the programming removed when spraying, and "work" your way from there. I first sprayed mine on the street without the tune, then went to the 87, and then the 93 tune. I would be a little leary of a 120shot (even a wet shot) with the predator. Good luck.
