Default RWHP & RWTQ differences of 6.0 vs 6.0 HO?

Well this is a bit curious to me as the power levels are very close from the factory. If one was to buy a 6.0 would it be wise to hock out the extra cash for the HO version?

Does the Escalade only come with the HO motor?

What are the casting numbers on the 6.0 blocks with Aluminum heads? I don't want to buy another 5.3 or a 4.8.

Thanks for anymore info on this!

I beleive all the castings are the same. Its all in the cam profile and tuning. And if memory serves me correctly.......the H.O. version peaks at a higher rpm. So unless you turn the motor tighter. The extra ponies arent much help.

I know the block and heads are the same. I think there is a different piston in the HO for more compression. I just don't think it would be wise to spend the extra cash for a bit more compression unless the deal was right.

I may just hold off on my 2500HD upgrade for a while until mid next summer and toss in a 6.0, mild cam, and some LTs this fall. I figure I could do all that for around $3000 give or take a few $100. But $3000 is about 4-6 vehicle payments too...

I really have no idea how the truck would run NA with about 350hp and close to 400tq, probably very nice. I have been reading a ton about 6.0's and looks like they are very choked out and respond HUGE to mods. Hell I read that going from a Flowmaster to a Magnaflow catback on a 6.0 yielded about 17rwhp alone!

I really think that the 6.0 should have come in all 1500 4x4 ext cab trucks from the factory along with a 9.5" SF rear axle, and a 4L80E.

2wd Escalades come with a 5.3,only 4wds come with the 6.0HO.Don't buy a junkyard motor out of a 2wd Escalade you'll wind up with a 5.3 with a fancey engine cover.

LQ9 and '01 and up LQ4 have the same cam specs with only a .6 difference in compression there can't be that much difference in rwhp.Maybe what 5hp-10hp tops.

The difference between the the LQ4 and LQ9 is pistons.. The LQ9 pistons are flat tops and the LQ4 are dished.. I found an almost brand new 2002 LQ9 Escalade long block on ebay for $1000.. It had been in an interior fire. Took it to the machine shop and the insides looked like new! Just a little smoke on the outside.. This engine has replaced my LS1 in the 99 Z28.. Dyno will come after its broken in and tuned.. Check this link to read all about it including the recent update at the end with sond clips and a picture of the LQ9 in my car.. https://ls1tech.com/threads/showflat...art=3&vc=1
