Wonder what type of tool would make that hump for the hose to slip over if you just cut it shorter.

what my buddy did was drill and tap the lower spot to run a ls6 intake heres a pic to show you where to drill it and tap

IIRC 01thunder and v8 grabbed the little snout with a pipe wrench and gave it a little twist while tapping the water pump with a hammer and it slowly turned to where they wanted it to sit.

do a search. they talked about it when they were swapping a weiand intake onto 01thunders truck.
