Default rod knock?

So I just finished up my tranny that took way too long and all of my money. I have about 2k on the trans and now I'm hearing a knock. I know for a fact it wasn't there before. It started as a tick a couple weeks ago. Now it is more prominent. I was convincing myself it was a lifter, but I can't hear it from the top of the motor, and I can hear it clearly through the wheel well.

Before I have a heart attack from stress, is there any way it can be a lifter, or m I pretty much looking for a rod knock at this point?

I cant find my stethescope, i'm going to see if one of the local stores has one for sale to pin point the sound.

if it is a rod knock, can I get to everything with the engine in the truck, from the bottom?

I had a knock I thought was a lifter. I found the torque convertor bolts were loose... It's worth checking anyway.

I just put a tranny in it, I'll definitely check that. Thanks.
