Is it possible to remove and reinstall one of these inserts? I am missing one for my throttle cable bracket, installing tbss intake. I have another intake I could Rob one off of, was just curious if anyone had any ideas on how to go about the situation. Thanks!

 

Screw in a long bolt, hit bolt with torch, pull out the bolt and insert with channel locks.
Clean it up.
Drop some super glue into hole on intake.
Place insert into hole and tap on the bolt with ballpeen hammer to drive it in.

Or thread the plastic and insert a proper sized heli coil in and be done with it.

 

Removal like previous post.
Ive always just heated the inserts up with a torch and tap them into the hole with a hammer. It needs to be hot enough to melt into the intake.
I like the superglue idea though.

 

They are ultrasonically inserted into the plastic...

We used to do it with a soldering iron and these...

Ultrasound is just a way to melt the plastic, Heating the insert, pushing it into the plastic, and holding it in place until the plastic sets will be the same. GM doesn't have time to do it that way, so they use ultrasonic welding.

That nylon that they use for the intake is weird. You can melt the stuff that they use to fill the holes, and I found that is you use superglue, you can get it to set a bit quicker by sprinkling baking soda on the glue.
