Question Reg. Gas Fuel injector question

I have a 2006 Tahoe 5.3 with flex fuel manifold I want to convert to Reg Gas. I had a set of gas injectors that are about a 1/4" shorter the the Flex Fuel injectors.

The fuel rail is stainless steel.

Are there longer Gas injectors that i should obtain...or do I need a different fuel rail?

Not sure I am following your reasoning, what are your goals? You just want to run regular fuel?

The process of converting an E-85 vehicle to gas is as follows:

1. Fill the tank with gasoline
2. Continue to fill the tank with gasoline.

+1. Unless I am reading your question wrong, all you need to do to run regular fuel is fill your tank. It's flex fuel because you can run regular or E-85. You do not have to run E85 in a flex fuel vehicle.

Question

From test results I've read and articals I've read...even after tuning the PCM (to recognize FF injectors)...I will not get as good gas mileage out of flex fuel injectors. In addition my custom engine harness connectors for gas injectors, The flex fuel harness pugs are a different size.

Not true????

I really would like to run the right stuff...even if I have to change the fuel rails

That is incorrect. The injectors you have (if tuned correctly) have exactly zero impact on gas mileage.

You will get better mileage running gasoline instead of e85, but no modifications are needed for that.

Thumbs up

I forgot to say this accually an engine swap...so I do not have the e-85 sensor in the fuel line.

I wonder if that makes any difference in tuning?

I already had the PCM tuned for gas.

If I understsand correctly no other tuning of the PCM is required for using Flex Fuel injectors.

Now all I need to do is change the harness plugs to match the E-85 injectors...right?

Thanks to all of you for clearing this up for me..

If you had your computer tuned for regular gas injectors then yes you will have to be retuned for the flex fuel injectors. Do yourself a favor and keep the flex fuelers as they are 35lb injectors as opposed to the stock 24lber's. You would never run out of injector when you go to mod this motor unless you went forced induction.
