a Volant CAI on my '04 2500HD with a 6.0L. I've gone through two tanks of gas, no increase in mileage.I've actually shown a minor loss, about .2 mpg so far. I drive the same "loop" to and from work everyday and I am very mpg oriented in my driving habits. The only thing I've noticed is a slight increase in throttle response, which is nice. I have not got all into the peddle looking far a seat of the pants gain, it's simply not going to be there. It does make more racket getting onto the highway....like turning the air filter lip upside down on my first car as a kid.

I'm going to buy a MagnaFlow cat back in a few weeks. I'll let you know what I gain, or don't. Hope this is helpful for those of you looking to make the "leap". Keep in mind, 5-8 hp in a 6k pound truck is not something the "***-dyno" is going to pick up.

Like you said, 5hp is not going to make a big sotp difference and in reality you probably can get the same results by dropping in a different element and modding the stock box but I like the Volant too.

Exactly man, we've all made the mistake of doing an intake and exhaust first. They do make the truck look nice(engine bay for the intake), but I'd much rather spend the $500-1000 you'll blow on an intake and catback on a tune than on that stuff again.

i've added intake on 5 different vehicles and at the most all you get is a deep tone at wot. The only other thing i can notice from an intake is a loss of .1 mpgs, ive turned one back to stock and gained .1 back in 2 days. I like them bc they look good, but ur never gonna feel a gain and they really dont increase fuel economy.

Performance wise, I was not expecting much. I was looking for more in the way in mpg's..oh well. I am going on with my plan, which is the above mentioned cat-back and then a tune.

I've spent many an hour and many a dollar for the last available hp from my car over the years. I know what works for what all the young guys call genI sbc's. I am kinda like a blind squirrel on the new stuff. I mean, I read all these forums looking for simple things to do. I am not going to go all outrageous on my daily, thats what I have my hotrod for.

Thanks for all the help and advice guys! I just hope someone looking to buy an intake just mods their stock one ( I know now I should have, its cake). I opened the Volant box and the first thing out of my mouth was " I paid 265.00 for this crap" hahaha! Not that it doesn't look good, but you know what I mean.
