Default Rebuildin a 5.3....

my dads company is getting rid of one of their trucks its a 2000 ECSB 5.3 4x4 Silverado

its got 220k miles on it and burns a little oil. and 14k on the tranny.. if i buy it i prob wanna rebuild the engine, whats the average cost of parts n machine labor for a minor built 5.3L? and what kinda mods would it take on a 5.3 to make it run 13.90's N/A?

i know everyone's gonna say drop the all mighty 6.0 in here but idk, ill consider it but id rather just keep the 5.3

if you have someone else rebuild the motor, theres a **** ton of variables, but say they are ok on labor, Ive seen it for 15-1700 (for a decent price) and depending on what you want done it will go up from there.

as for the mods... all the basic bolt ons, and h/c/i should be more than good

ill be buildin the engine myself, the only labor ill have to pay for is the machine work.

and around here they want alot of money for all the 5.3s and 6.0s like well over 1200$

My thoughts exactly..... These motors are not cheap to rebuild and mod. You said 1200. for used, you would put way more than that in one but you would have a better performer with the right mods.

No, you just bore it .119 over and use LS1 pistions. Very common.
