reading codes with a scan tool
#1
when using a scan tool to read codes, should you be only concerned with the codes the actively pop up or any code that the scan tool reveals. i have a predator and when i look for trouble codes, i get one for the fuel level sending unit. not a big deal. but then there is an option to check for other things (can't remember what it is called), this is where i get nine codes. some are absolute pressure, maf something, tranny control slipping, and catalyst system below threshold, among others. i know i have some codes turned off, like rear 02's, and egr, but are these things that my tuner has turned off for me that i am looking at?
if more info is needed please feel free to ask.

If your are reading the freeze frame data, those are codes that have set in the past but have since cleared themselves. Unless it is persistant or setting a SES, I wouldnt worry too much about it.

no they aren't persistent (they never pop up). just something i found while playing with the predator. only recent codes where the fuel level sensor, no cats, and the misfire. but the later two have since disappeared.
