Default Quick True-Dual Question

Would running a true dual setup off my 5.3L be too loud? I have a chance to switch out my Magnaflow muffler for two Magnaflow mufflers that are the bullet style mufflers and I was thinking about getting rid of my Y-pipe and running a true dual setup. If I do run the true dual setup should I throw my cats back on as well? Just looking for some feedback from people who have ran true-dual setups before.

If you keep your cats and install an x-pipe it should sound good and not be too loud at all. Are you planning heads and a cam, or a power adder? A true dual set up isn't necessary on a stock 5.3 and might even hurt you a little bit down low due to a decrease in exhaust velocity, unless you have more coming out of the engine to warrant the true duals

He is plannin on a cam soon..

But even then, idk if would still run tru duals.. I think it sounds killer the way it is Taylor. True duals with the bullets is goin to cause a lot more attn then there already is lol.. IMO.

I'm in the minority, I like the way a Y pipe sounds on these trucks.

It's just an idea I was tossing around and figured I'd toss it out there, get some input.

If youre gonna run cats, it eliminates the annoying rasp of ypipe exhausts.

duals are fine if you size the pipes accordingly. dual 2.25" pipes is slightly larger cross-sectional area than a single 3" exhaust. If running duals, I'd definitely run 2.25" with an x-pipe as close to the collectors as you can.

My set-up is 2.25" duals through the cats, through an x-pipe, and then through two Spintech Pro-Street mufflers, and I'd hardly call it too loud. Well, maybe it is for the folks just outside the true haha, but certainly not for me. I'm exiting in front of the passenger rear tire instead of dumped under the bed, so that helps perceived volume too.

It may not be that bad of an idea then. The mufflers are 2.5" in/out though not 2.25".
