Default Quick Tire ?????

Ok, I got the new tires and wheels on. No pics yet. Quick refresher question. Which height affects your gear ratio in a positve way, taller or shorter. Say the stock size is 30" tall, and you have a choice of 31.5" tall tires or 29" tall tires, which ones will compliment the gearing better? I got Nitto 255/55/18 (10.33w x 28.94h), but just don't like the stance it shows. I am thinking of a Falken 285/60/18(11.5"w 31.5") or a Nitto 285/50/18(11.54"w x 29.06"). If I can get Pirelli 285/55/18 (11.8"w x 30.06) that would be just about right. The old set was Goodyear Eagle GT II (275/60/17 10.9"w x 30.00"h. These sizes are according to each makers specs.

BTW I have about 40m on the Nitto's, they better take them back.

Tony, I dropped my old set at the barn and asked the CARETAKER <img src="gr_grin.gif" border="0"> to put them inside for me since it was locked when I got there and I didn't have my key. In case your interested the rim specs are 17x8 w/a +24mm offset (5.4" back spacing)

Shorter tire is better it lowers your stock gear ratio, a taller tire increases it.

i used to have falken 285-60-18 on my truck when it was at it's stock height.

the tires felt a little wobbly, so i didnt really enjoy them that much.
