Default question on electric fans

i'm curious as to why you need to buy ls1 fans or 05 silvy fans. Why can't you just buy an aftermarket universal electric fan and a thermostat/wiring harness for it?

I think the reason why those fans are sought after more is because they are a direct fit if associated with the right radiator brackets... im sure there are plenty out there they will fit or you can make them fit. And as for a harness... idk... but you can just put a switch on there, lol make your truck look more like an airplane control board

You can usually find ls1 fans for a pretty cheap price and EAD Performance has a damn good price on the 05 GM fans. The flex a lite dual fan setup is a nice package but the controller box that comes with them isn't worth a ****, there has been alot of problems with it. You could probably make any universal electric fan work though.

These fans pull some serious CFM's over a generic fan.

The latest version of the VSC seems to be just fine, the earlier models would fry themselves, of course mine took a dump while I was towing. The new version worked great for me.
