yes there are. if you look in them, they have baffled holes all around the inside. they are resonators, not catalytic converters, so yea there's nothing to gut.

Whats the purpose of the resonators? why not just run straight pipes with mufflers and cats and let it fly

my guess is to simulate cats. They hold the o2 sensor well! lol

Mine are absolutely hollow, no such media as you are talking about.

mine have the baffle stuff as well...but it is recessed in there quite well so no flow issues.

They are on there basically for a visual check to simulate cats in case of any place that does a visual check I believe

Aside from cutting your cats off at an inspection, how will anyone see the baffels? I doubt its for a visual inspection.

it's not, they are used to reduce rasp just like people put bullet mufflers in front of there other muffler.
