Stock pushrods are 7.38" so aftermarket stock replacements are 7.40" If you install a higher lift cam with a smaller base circle or deck the heads your length requirement will change.

On my current cam i had tons of preload so I ended up using a 7.350 pushrod and having to use shims.

I was told that due to a smaller base circle, my new cam will require pushrods of 7.450" in order to ensure proper lifter preload, and no valvetrain noise. Does this make sense?

What I find interesting is that I can't readily find 7.450" pushrods anywhere - Summit, Thunder, Jegs - but this shop has them.
