What is the problem exactly? Is the bolt too tight, or you just having problems reaching it?

If it is reaching it, I had to loosen my oil pan bolts to give me about another inch of access. I believe that is how most on here have had to do it also. If it just won't come loose, can't help much there.

The oil pan gasket is an o-ring'd gasket. You'll be fine loosening it, letting it drop some, then re-tightening.

I assume you are putting on a new pump. Make sure you put it back on the reverse order you have pulled off. Bolt up the pickup tube first and let it seat naturally without putting stress on it and will slide right in. Then bolt to the block. Overall this way is a PITA getting the pump lined up with the crank to slide it on, but you don't have worry in the back of your mind that you pinched the o-ring. Which can be done pretty easily if you bolt up the pump first. Just a recommendation.

Don't drop the pan a "little" remove all the bolts holding it to the block and let it drop. Be careful of the two long bolts in the back of the pan as far as putting them back in, they will strip easy, so don't torque them much at all. I did a couple of bolts and wedged a screw driver in, here's a a pic-

and it wasn't enough room. Drop it all the way. Remove the oil pump tube bolt with a gear wrench. Here's a pic of me lining the pump up with feeler gauges, it was a pita and it probably didn't line up in the end, so I wouldn't worry about it IMO.
