power to 4.8L
#12
i may just go with a LS2 with exhaust, heads, cam. i don't know that sounds a little easy but i never have done a swap in a truck before. i know that my budget is a good one and anything that i do will be in my budget. i would like it to stay as normally aspirated as i can go. with a swap or not.

Dude for 9K you can get 400 rwhp N/A including the tranny!!! I wouldn't bother with the 4.8L. Not to say you can't make power but you can make more power for cheaper if you swap in a 6L or even go 408. I'd swap in a 4l80e w/shift kit and servo's for $2,000 then build a stout but not built 408 for 5K and the rest for misc supporting parts. If your really hungry, I'd say swap in a 6L for 1,500 get some forged rods and pistons, and some decent flowing heads (2,500)and throw on a Turbo(4,500). And with a smart tune you could be looking at 500rwhp.

I am also looking to go the 6.0l swap with my 4.8l, I heard that people with the 1999-2000 trucks with 4.8/5.3 need a 2001 or newer LQ4 because it has the short crank, but im not exactly sure if thats right, can someone shed light on this? Thanks.

and wouldnt aluminum be a weight advantage as long as you dont over heat?
