4.8s have been known to see close to 500hp at the wheels around here.... I'd build what you have, unless youve already got the LS1 shortblock. In that case, yeah, I'd say swap it for the increased cubic inches, you'll have a better platform to start with IMO.

I just picked up an ls1 block locally for 75 bucks...deals can be found if you look for them.

Im thinking 370, or 383.

Well, i just figured with all the aftermarket parts that are out there for the 5.7/ls1 camaro that if i purchased the ls1 then parts would be easily avaliable and pratically a dime a dozen. Plus when i want to sell it, i just type "it has a ls1 out of a camaro" and high school kids will go banannas, making it an easy sell. the thing is guys, i dont have the 5.3. i have the little 4.8 and all my truck has is no cats and a knockoff flowmaster thats dumped...im still starting fresh.i would be jumping a whole liter on my motor. From what 230 hp to 310+? for what 400 bucks? that sounds like a deal to me? ANYONE WANNA BUY A CRUISER MOTORCYCLE? lol
