Default porting MAFS

I was wondering if anyone had done this yet. If so what are the things I need to pay attention to when doing it? Or could you tell me where to get the info on how to do it?

There had been some debate on this in the past. Some have taken the screen off the MAF and had good results, others haven't. I took mine off, and thjink it made me run a little leaner.

On porting it, the MAF doesn't come apart like the Fbody MAFs do. It would be hard to port it without hitting any of the sensors.

One note - The size of the truck MAf is larger than the Fbody MAF. It is the same size that comes on the vette. If it can flow well enough to support a vette, I think it should handle all of the air your truck could need ithout porting.

Thanks Richard.
I took the screen out of mine today to see if it helps. Haven't had the chance to run it to see any difference. Been pulling a trailer all day.
I agree on porting it. Not much room to work without tearing it up.
Have any info on the trottle body?

I took the screen off mine and did the EGR trim Inoticed a little gain I think these mods make sense if you are trying to flow more air, I mean look at all the money people spend on intakes and leave these things.

There is very little CFM to be had by porting the Truck/Z06 style MAFS...You have to remember too that these devices are calibrated for flow calculations which incorporate some constants one of which is flow surface area. Changing this will change fuel computation.

I agree with Richard. the MAF flows plenty of air. I run an s/c which i formerly ran with a Gannetelli MAF. It ran very lean @8psi/WOT. Leave it stock. its not worth it

Explain what the EGR trim is. I'm still learning on these mods. Let me know what mods I can do to the engine without changing any components. I want to see what all I can get out of it before I change anything.
I saw on HotRod tv a camaro gain 8hp just by putting synthetic fluids in all the drivetrain.
