Default Ported oil pump

Anybody done this? Does it really help? I read about it in LS1/LS6 performance, but it doesn't say if it increases pressure, volume or both.

Take a stock pump apart and study where it could be ported. Then I believe you will see that a ported pump is unecessary. I think some of the ported pumps also use shims on the relief valve to change the pressure, but other than that I see no reason to spend the extra $$$. Just my opinion-I'm sure the "it is cheap insurance" arguments will surface, but like I said, just my opinion.
