Default port matching heads to header

I am running 1 5/8 headers, was wondering how much of a difference it would make to match just the exhaust ports on the head to the headers.

Do you mean buy headers with larger primaries? It helps out upper rpm power, but doesnt do any favors for the low-end. On a stock-ish truck, you would never notice.

I think he means gasket matching the exhaust ports.. Like putting the gasket on the head and dremel the holes out to match the gaskets so its basically the same size as the primaries on the headers

1 5/8" is stock manifold size, go to a 1 3/4" or 1 7/8" LT and you wont have to "gasket match" anything. i wouldnt bother with it unless you are running a big intake, big cam, big exhaust. there are a TON of guys running big power, and fast numbers without "gasket matching" anything like that. but hey, who knows you could have a badass setup and need all the air in and outta the motor you can get.

so help us all....share your setup and goals out of your setup

Enlarging the exits of the exhaust ports won't help anything by itself. Plus you'll lose any anti-reversion effect. If you look at ported heads like TEA, PRC, or whichever, some of them include some grinding at the tops of the exhaust port exits. But leave the port floor alone. You have to be careful with the roofs, because that bump there is directly below the spring seat.
Looking for cheap improvements is good, as is thinking outside the box. But this idea is a dud, sorry.
