Default Piston Slap...WTF

Hey guys here's my issue. Today I change my oil (9953 miles) and filled her up with valvoline 5/30. After I start her up she starts to knock and continues to do this for 20 minutes...(I let the truck idle). Since I never heard this noise before, I thought the problem was from the Val. oil (appeared to be thinner that the penzoil 5/30 that I replaced).

So, I ended up changing the oil to penz. 10/30... and I still have the knocking noise, just not as bad. Its not CSK, because it does it only at idle (from what I can hear) and when it's fully warmed up.

So the question is... Do I have piston slap? And would just changing the oil make this appear? I'm figuring that the noise was there before and I didn't realize it, but I think I would have (I'm totally ****). From all the posts I read before it seems that CSK and piston slap won't hurt the motor. It just pisses me off that the motor was quite and now it lightly knocks at idle.

Let me know your feelings on this. Thanks.

Jeff

Alot of people usually do not start to notice piston slap until 10,000 miles.

I love GM to death. But they never took care of that ****** piston slap. My buddy just got a 2005 Silverado scsb and that some bitch knocks louder than mine. But the ****** runs like a champ!!!!! When i bought my truck it knocked, and then several months later i blew up on me. The "stealership" replaced the motor and this one knocks or "taps" as well. But the ****** runs like a champ. Try some Mobil 1 10/30. I started using the Mobil 1 and the "tap" quieted some. Just my $.02

One word of advice: use mobil 5w30 in the winter for start up protection.Save the 10w30 for warmer weather if that's what you want.
